Tragic double hanging in Rajasthan: husband dies, wife in serious condition

A grim incident unfolded in Rizhona, a village of Jhalawar district, when local police broke into a home after receiving reports of a locked bedroom on Sunday morning.

Inside the room, the bodies of Girraj, aged 35, and his wife Aarti were discovered hanging from a rope. Girraj was pronounced dead at the scene, while Aarti was found unconscious, with shallow breathing, and was quickly transferred to the district hospital's intensive care unit.

Family members, unable to open the bedroom door, forced it open and immediately called emergency services. The couple had apparently eaten dinner together the previous night and retired to their room, after which they were not heard from.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the joint suicide. No suicide note was found, and investigators are assessing whether economic hardship or personal disputes played a role.

Girraj's post‑mortem has been completed, and his remains handed over to relatives. Aarti's statements will be recorded once she regains consciousness, and the case will be closed pending her testimony and forensic findings.
