Rural Rajasthan Family Loses Three Daughters After Household Appliance Malfunction

A heartbreaking incident struck a humble household in Baran district, Rajasthan, when a household cooler suffered an electrical fault that resulted in the electrocution of three young sisters. The victims, identified as Saloni, 7, Avantika, 3, and infant Sandhya, 1, were alone at home while their parents were engaged in agricultural labour.

The father, Madanlal Saharia, a migrant labourer from Karnawata village in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh, is employed on a farm in Fatehpur. He lives with his family on the same farmland, a common arrangement for seasonal workers in the region.

According to the Baran police, the cooler’s internal wiring malfunction caused a sudden surge of electric current. The children, unaware of the danger, came into contact with the device’s metallic surface, leading to immediate fatal injuries. When the parents returned from the fields, they discovered the girls lifeless. Local residents responded promptly, assisting in moving the bodies to the nearest medical facility.

Physicians at the hospital examined the children and confirmed their deaths. The village entered a period of collective mourning, and the Sub‑Divisional Officer, Ramavtar Meena, oversaw the post‑mortem process and the subsequent handover of the bodies to the family for burial in their ancestral village.

An official inquiry into the cause of the electrical failure has been launched. Government officials have assured the bereaved family that they will receive all entitled benefits and assistance as per state regulations.
