Tourists Flock to Udaipur’s Giant Light Installation This Diwali
Udaipur’s iconic lakeside backdrop was complemented by a massive light sculpture this Diwali. The Udaipur Development Authority unveiled a 200‑foot long “Lighting Universe” on the UIT bridge, measuring 50 feet across and standing 22 feet tall. The structure’s dazzling illumination and intricate design attracted throngs of onlookers.
People from nearby villages, distant states and foreign visitors arrived in large numbers, eager to photograph the vibrant display. Some focused on selfies, while families posed together, eager to keep a memory of the event. Visitor Prerna exclaimed that the sight felt like the whole universe had descended onto the bridge, and Vipul lauded the ambitious scale of the work.
From Nathdwara, Jyoti Paliwal expressed that the lighting turned an already picturesque city into a celestial showcase, calling it “like heaven.” Local resident Simran added that the installation made the Diwali festivities truly unforgettable.
The influx of visitors caused traffic snarls around the bridge, leading police to step in and manage both pedestrian and vehicle flow. Nevertheless, the Lighting Universe stood as a highlight of Diwali in Udaipur, marrying the city’s heritage with contemporary festive lighting.
