TMC’s Internal Split Draws Sharp Criticism from BJP’s Dilip Ghosh

Dilip Ghosh, West Bengal’s minister for Panchayati Raj, used a press interaction on Saturday to castigate the Trinamool Congress for its ongoing internal division. He pointed out that the Election Commission is hearing claims from two rival TMC camps over the party’s election symbol, a scenario he described as “political anarchy”.

According to Ghosh, the TMC’s identity is inseparable from Mamata Banerjee, and the party survives only because of her personal presence. He quoted TMC stalwart Kunal Ghosh, stating that the party “means Mamata Banerjee”, and noted that a rebel group now commands the majority of TMC legislators.

The minister argued that the original TMC leadership has become ineffective, leaving the organization in a state of “confusion and disorder”. He insisted that the party’s emblem should be revoked, preventing it from establishing any base in West Bengal or beyond.

These comments coincided with the Election Commission’s scheduled hearing in New Delhi, where both the Banerjee and Banerjee‑led factions presented their case for retaining the contested symbol.
