TMC faces political heat as BJP spokesperson blames Mamata for West Bengal turmoil

The resignation of former minister Chandrima Bhattacharya has sparked a fresh wave of political confrontation in West Bengal. BJP’s Kiya Ghosh used the incident to level severe criticism against the Trinamool Congress and its chief, Mamata Banerjee. In a press briefing, Ghosh suggested that the recent exits were symptomatic of a broader neglect by the TMC leadership, claiming that earlier warnings from party members could have prevented job losses and the migration of skilled workers.

Ghosh also dismissed the need for any advisory role for Suvendu Adhikari, stating that the chief minister should already understand how to protect the state’s interests. She mocked Banerjee’s supposed discomfort with patriotic slogans like “Jai Shri Ram” and “Vande Mataram,” recalling her refusal to participate in national celebrations marking the latter’s 150‑year milestone.

The BJP spokesperson rebuked Banerjee’s use of the term “traitor” against former TMC affiliates, pointing out that Banerjee herself broke away from the Congress to create the TMC, which she labeled as an original act of betrayal. Ghosh further argued that the TMC’s decision to absorb BJP legislators in 2021 was another instance of political treachery.

Cultural disputes were also highlighted, with Ghosh alleging that the demolition of the Syama Prasad Mukherjee statue signaled an assault on West Bengal’s heritage, a trend she associated with the prior government’s adoption of foreign slogans.

Regarding the ongoing Ram temple dispute, Ghosh announced that investigations have commenced and promised stringent action against those responsible. She cautioned Arvind Kejriwal and Priyanka Gandhi against commenting on the matter, referring to existing corruption allegations against them.

Ghosh concluded by mentioning a recent BCCI correspondence seeking a ban on adult promotional material, claiming such content was discovered in the offices of TMC leaders and calling for a parliamentary inquiry.
