Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu dropped a bombshell on Friday, alleging that Tirupati’s iconic laddus were tainted with ghee made from bathroom cleaner chemicals during the YSRCP regime. The accusation came during a rally in Kurnool’s Yemmiganur, where Naidu was handing out land passbooks to farmers under the ‘Your Land, Your Right’ initiative.
‘For five years, they fed devotees prasad made from toxic substances used to scrub toilets,’ Naidu charged, directly implicating former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s administration in polluting the revered Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple’s offerings. This, he said, was a deliberate attempt to tarnish one of India’s holiest sites.
Dismissing Jagan’s boasts of investigative clearances, Naidu referenced admissions from within the YSRCP camp, including Jagan’s uncle Y.V. Subba Reddy confirming the adulteration. The CM took pride in the swift corrective measures post-elections, noting a ‘world of difference’ in the current pure ghee-based laddus.
Naidu didn’t hold back on YSRCP’s disruptive politics, slamming their recent Guntur procession for causing vehicular mayhem—one incident allegedly crushing a man under their convoy—and vandalizing mangoes in Bangarupalayam. ‘Power shows belong in elections, not on roads tormenting the public,’ he remarked.
Shifting focus to governance, Naidu outlined how the TDP alliance is fortifying land documents with advanced security features to curb encroachments, benefiting millions of farmers. This blend of spiritual outrage and policy promise positions Naidu as a fierce guardian of tradition and progress in Andhra’s polarized landscape.
