Police Report: Tire Blowout Sends Truck Into House in Uttar Pradesh
According to the Ahraura police station, a cargo truck transporting salt from Varanasi to Sonbhadra experienced a catastrophic tyre failure shortly after midnight on Thursday. The blowout caused the driver to lose control, and the vehicle ploughed straight into a private residence near the Kudarun Chowk area of Mirzapur.
Five occupants were inside the house at the time. The impact resulted in three fatalities – Rajaram, 47; Sukhiya, 70; and Chandtara, 45 – all belonging to the same family. Two survivors, Sunil Sharma (45) and his 12‑year‑old daughter Suhani, were rescued with severe injuries and shifted to the local health centre, later being referred to a Varanasi trauma facility for further treatment.
Police officials secured the scene, recovered the bodies for post‑mortem examination, and initiated a formal inquiry into the mechanical failure of the truck. The incident has sparked public outrage, with locals demanding stricter enforcement of vehicle safety standards.
The investigation remains open as forensic teams assess the tyre remnants and the truck’s load documentation.
