In a scathing attack, NCP spokesperson Anand Paranjape has condemned the installation of Tipu Sultan’s picture in Malegaon Deputy Mayor’s chamber, terming it an assault on governmental decorum. The controversy has snowballed into a major political flashpoint in Maharashtra.
‘Government offices are for public service, not historical provocations,’ Paranjape told media outlets. He argued that only portraits of undisputed national icons belong there, pointing to Tipu Sultan’s contentious role in history as a reason for outrage.
BJP and allied parties have piled on, branding it a deliberate attempt to rewrite history. Street demonstrations and social media campaigns are amplifying calls for accountability from municipal authorities.
Shifting gears, Paranjape robustly backed the landmark India-US defense agreement. Dismissing opposition barbs as ‘post-deal sabotage,’ he highlighted its strategic value. ‘In an era of rising geopolitical tensions, this deal equips our forces with superior capabilities. Critics are playing into anti-national narratives.’
Paranjape praised the unveiling of ‘Seva Tirth,’ the revamped PMO in Delhi, as a beacon of administrative excellence. ‘Modi ji’s vision has revolutionized bureaucracy,’ he noted. ‘With green tech, smart offices, and seamless digital tools, it’s a game-changer for governance.’
On NCP’s internal front, he quashed speculation over Ajit Pawar’s stance. ‘Sensationalized reports from closed-door meetings are designed to fracture us,’ Paranjape said regarding Shashikant Shinde’s remarks. ‘Our focus remains on Maharashtra’s development, not divisive politics.’
This multi-pronged commentary from Paranjape underscores the intricate interplay of local grievances, international diplomacy, and intraparty dynamics shaping India’s political discourse.
