The Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 began Sunday morning under an unprecedented security umbrella spanning every state. Nearly 8.2 lakh registered candidates competed for just 933 posts, highlighting the exam’s fierce competitiveness. Conducted in the traditional OMR format, the test featured two papers: General Studies in the morning slot and CSAT after lunch. Entry protocols were strict—printed admit cards, photo IDs, biometric authentication, and retina scans were mandatory. Exam halls were fitted with live CCTV feeds and mobile jammers to deter malpractice. In the capital, aspirants at Pushp Vihar KV voiced cautious optimism after months of study. In Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, candidates praised punctual paper delivery and courteous frisking. Meanwhile, Gwalior’s 21 centers accommodated over 6,600 test-takers under the watchful eyes of route in-charges ensuring tamper-proof logistics. Officials noted zero disruptions, attributing success to meticulous planning. Candidates across regions echoed a common sentiment: disciplined preparation remains the key to cracking one of India’s toughest gateways to public service.
