Three‑Year Allocation Totals ₹1,178.20 Crore for SC Students in Karnataka

Over a three‑year period, the Centre has earmarked ₹1,178.20 crore for Karnataka’s Post‑Matric Scholarship Scheme reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) learners. The disbursement schedule reflects a steady flow of resources: ₹421.08 crore in FY 2023‑24, ₹422.90 crore in FY 2024‑25 and ₹334.22 crore in FY 2025‑26.

These funds are transferred directly to the intended recipients using the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) model, which minimizes leakage and accelerates access to financial aid. The scheme operates on a demand‑based principle, activating only when the Karnataka state authorities submit verified beneficiary data on the National Scholarship Portal.

The Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry oversees the program nationwide, coordinating with state education departments to ensure compliance with the Development Action Plan for Scheduled Castes (DAPSC). Under DAPSC, each ministry allocates resources for SC development initiatives, and the released amounts are recorded in the Union Budget’s Statement 10A.

By channeling funds through a transparent, technology‑enabled system, the government aims to enhance higher‑education participation among SC students and bridge socio‑economic gaps in Karnataka.
