Three‑Child Father Ends Wife’s Life in Dhenkanal, Hangs Himself

A shocking case of spousal homicide shocked the residents of Ahkua Pall, Dhenkanal district, on September 20. The 35‑year‑old husband, Ratnakar "Mithun" Naik, allegedly beat his 30‑year‑old wife, Rasmi Ta Naik, with a heavy stick after a late‑night quarrel.

Eyewitnesses say the couple had a volatile relationship, often aggravated by the husband’s alcohol use. The final confrontation resulted in the wife’s death, after which the husband, consumed by remorse, chose to end his own life by hanging.

Police reports indicate the couple’s three daughters were taken to the husband’s brother’s house before the tragic conclusion. The brother was away with his family at the time, leaving the children unattended.

Investigators from the Parjang police station, along with forensic experts, arrived promptly. Both bodies were sent for post‑mortem at the community health centre, and a formal case (491/26) has been lodged.
