Thousands of Lamps to Be Lit as Part of Gujarat's 'Seva Samarpan' Campaign

On 17 September, Gujarat will witness the illumination of one lakh oil lamps, a symbolic gesture organized by the BJP to honour Prime Minister Modi's birthday and his quarter‑century of service. The lighting ceremony will involve a coalition of social institutions, NGOs and local volunteers across the state's 48 wards.

The event kicks off a 30‑day period where each ward hosts a variety of activities, from cultural performances on street corners to public discussions on good governance. Party officials expect wide participation, viewing the lamp‑lighting as both a tribute and a rallying point for civic engagement.
