Thousands Gather for Bhasma Aarti and Royal Attire of Mahakal

A massive congregation assembled at Mahakaleshwar Temple on Ashadh Pratipada to witness the famed Bhasma Aarti of Baba Mahakal. The deity, traditionally offered cremation ash, this year received a specially prepared mixture of cow‑dung from a Kapila cow and medicinal herbs. Men donned traditional dhoti‑sovala and women wore saris as per ritual protocol.

The priest performed a grand Mahaa‑Aarti, during which the deity was anointed with Panchamrit and presented with a regal garb of silver moon, trident, and tripundra. The event attracted devotees from across India and abroad, prompting a strong police presence to maintain order around the temple premises.
