Ujjain – The Mahakaleshwar Temple became a sea of devotees on Friday as the annual Bhom Aarti of Baba Mahakal was performed. After opening the sanctum with traditional drums, the deity was adorned with an ethereal garb and a crown. A Panchamrit abhishek using dairy and honey products was offered, followed by the first bell ringing and the offering of holy water. The subsequent ash aarti, accompanied by the resonant sounds of dhol‑nagada, conches and chanting, filled the premises with divine vibrations. According to tradition, the ashes offered by the Mahaniwarni Akhada help the deity transition from a formless to a tangible form, granting devotees a rare glimpse of Baba Mahakal in his majestic form.
