Thousands Gather for Night‑long Bhavya Ash Arati at Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar

A massive crowd assembled at the Mahakaleshwar Temple on Friday morning, extending their vigil into the night for the spectacular ash arati. The gathering, which included pilgrims from across the state, demonstrated the deep devotion to Baba Mahakal during the Anant Chaturdashi festival.

The ceremony began with the opening of the deity's sacred doors after a ceremonial drum roll. The priest performed a pan‑chant of mantras while the temple's bells, conches and the rhythmic beating of drums reverberated throughout the complex.

Following the ash arati, the priest led a grand maha‑arati that lit the entire sanctum, casting a golden glow over the assembled faithful. The event underscored the cultural and spiritual significance of the Anant Chaturdashi observance in Ujjain.
