The UPSC CSE 2025 final results, announced on March 7, have set the stage for future bureaucrats, with 958 candidates making the cut. At the heart of this announcement is Shubham Kumar Mahato’s remarkable feat from Dhanbad, Jharkhand – his third straight qualification, this time with AIR 142.
Living in Baghmara’s Dumra Jamuatand, Shubham, aged 29, is the proud son of BCCL worker Heeralal Mahato and homemaker Manju Devi. His persistent climb through the ranks – 857 in 2023, 606 in 2024, and now 142 – showcases unyielding determination.
Not satisfied with prior outcomes, Shubham doubled down on preparation, channeling years of dedication into this breakthrough. Today, his family’s home resonates with celebrations.
A stellar academic record backs his success: matriculation from D-Nobili School in Chandrapura, higher secondary from DPS Bokaro, and a gold medal-winning BTech in Mining Engineering from Banaras Hindu University. Choosing civil services over engineering, he moved to the national capital for intensive coaching.
In reflections shared post-results, Shubham attributed his victory to parental guidance and stressed the essence of disciplined study. He counseled students: ‘Listen to your parents; they always want the best for you. Hard work and patience are key.’
The leaderboard highlights Anuj Agnihotri at the top, with Rajeshwari Suve M and Ekanash Dhaul securing second and third spots. Raghav Jhunjhunwala, Ishaan Bhatnagar, Jinia Arora, AR Raja Mohiddin, Pakshal, Aastha Jain, and Ujjwal Priyank complete the top 10.
Shubham’s ascent not only honors Dhanbad but inspires a new generation to chase IAS dreams with grit.
