Textile Sector to Drive Economic Revival in UP, Says Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath used the platform of the Uttar Pradesh Textile Conclave 2026 to map out the state’s economic roadmap, placing the textile industry at its core. He narrated how Uttar Pradesh’s textile heritage, from the silk of Varanasi to the carpets of Bhadohi, has a natural advantage in today’s global market. “We have 17 products with Geographical Indication status and about five‑lakh weavers who make up a significant share of India’s fabric production,” he said, noting that the state contributes roughly 14 percent of the nation’s total output. The CM outlined a vision to develop a complete value chain within the state – from fibre cultivation to finished garment export – turning Uttar Pradesh into a world‑class textile hub. To this end, the administration has cleared 36 sector‑specific policies, earmarked 75,000 acres of land for industrial use, and set up an online incentive‑tracking system supervised directly by the chief minister’s office. Over the past nine years, infrastructure upgrades such as expressways, logistics corridors and multimodal connectivity have laid the groundwork for large‑scale investment. The chief minister revealed that potential investors have pitched projects worth ₹5,354 crore, and that ten "Sant Kabir Textile Parks" are slated for development, with five already under construction. He urged MSMEs to move up the value chain, transforming from subcontractors to exporters and from suppliers to brand owners.
