The Government of India, through Central Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Sindhia, is pushing a major investment push for the country’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMG) in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
A target of over ₹10,000 crore in capital inflow has been announced, aiming to create a fully integrated ecosystem that covers manufacturing, research, development, design, testing and innovation. Early investment pledges amounting to ₹3,500 crore were secured during a round‑table in Delhi, forecasting the generation of about 14,000 jobs.
The upcoming investors meet in Mumbai will gather telecom manufacturers, technology firms, infrastructure providers, component makers and financial investors to accelerate the build‑out of a world‑class manufacturing hub. The initiative is aligned with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, seeking to strengthen domestic value chains, lower import reliance, promote indigenous production, increase exports, and establish India as a reliable global destination for telecom products and next‑generation technology.
Madhya Pradesh officials, including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Telecom Department Secretary Amit Agarwal and Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, will attend, underscoring regional support for the project.
