Final voter list for Telangana SIR to be released on Nov 9

The Election Commission of India has pushed back the deadline for filing claims and objections under Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by three weeks. The filing period, which opened on August 17, will now remain open until October 7 2026, replacing the earlier September 16 cutoff. Following this, the notice‑distribution and hearing stage is slated to conclude on November 5, and the updated voter list is due on November 9. A video conference on September 7 brought together the Chief Electoral Officer, the additional Chief Electoral Officer, the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner, the Hyderabad district electoral officer, and all district electoral and registration officers. The session focused on operational readiness for the SIR‑2026 schedule. Officials were directed to guarantee that each voter receives the notice directly from the Booth Level Officer (BLO). In cities, BLOs must coordinate with Booth Level Agents (BLA) to verify addresses accurately. Districts have been granted additional login access to expedite the processing of pending applications. The Commission also instructed that any un‑mapping or irregularity reports be shared with political parties during their consultations, and that BLAs be mobilised to assist throughout the claims window. All required documents must be uploaded by the BLO, the BLO supervisor and the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, adhering to ECI guidelines. Computer operators are expected to maintain accuracy; any mistakes will be the responsibility of the supervising ERO or AERO. Inspectors are to visit the homes of senior citizens and disabled voters whose details were not covered in the designated hearing venues, ensuring they receive proper attention. Help desks at the DEO and ERO levels are to be either opened or reinforced to field voter queries related to the SIR. The Chief Electoral Officer concluded the meeting by assessing the progress made by each district in terms of notice issuance, hearing scheduling, and the timely closure of cases recorded in the DEO and ERO portals.
