Telangana Chief Orders Probe After Fatal Fire in Special Newborn Care Ward

In a tragic incident at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital in Adilabad, a fire broke out in the Special Newborn Care Unit late Monday night, resulting in the deaths of two infants. The fire was first reported at approximately 11:50 PM, prompting an emergency response from fire‑fighters and hospital staff.

The swift action of rescue teams helped move 28 other babies out of the burning ward, averting a larger catastrophe. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with fire officials stating that the exact source has not yet been identified.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has issued an official order for a comprehensive inquiry. He has asked senior officials to submit a detailed report on the incident’s cause as soon as possible. The police have registered a case and begun a formal investigation.
