Tejashwi Yadav targets NDA allies over reservation policy, demands 85% quota

Shifting focus to the reservation debate, Yadav accused senior NDA allies such as Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan, Upendra Kushwaha and leaders of the Janata Dal (United) of exploiting caste‑based quotas for electoral gain while remaining silent when the issue of expanding reservations arises. He recalled that the previous Grand Alliance government had increased the overall quota to 75 percent through a caste‑based census and sought its inclusion in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, a step the centre has yet to take. Yadav urged the NDA partners who claim to support reservation to push for a new law raising the quota to 85 percent and to embed it in the Ninth Schedule.
