Two Teenagers Hospitalised After Bus Crashes Into Bike Near Chintamani

A high‑speed private bus plowed into a three‑wheeler carrying three pre‑university students on the Chintamani‑Bengaluru road, leaving one dead and two teenagers in critical condition.

The accident took place close to the Chattamachanahalli gate, a busy junction on the Chintamani‑Bengaluru highway. Deepika, aged 16, succumbed to her injuries instantly. Tripura, also 16, suffered severe head wounds and was air‑lifted to NIMHANS in Bengaluru for specialized care. Smita, the third passenger, broke her leg and is receiving treatment at the SNR Hospital in Kolar.

All three girls were first‑year students at a private college in Chintamani. They had just finished the Independence Day celebrations and were heading to the Cavara temple when the bus, unable to stop in time, collided with their bike as they attempted a U‑turn.

Local police arrived promptly, secured the scene, and noted that the bus driver escaped without stopping. The incident has been logged, and a detailed investigation is underway to determine liability and prevent future tragedies.
