Teen Daughter of Bhopal IPS Commits Suicide, Leaves Note

Tragedy struck the family of IPS officer Sanjeev Kanchan when his 16-year-old daughter was found hanging inside their home in Bhopal’s Char Imli colony. The girl, a class 11 student, was alone at the residence after the family had breakfast together. When her father returned for lunch, he noticed the bedroom door was locked from inside. After breaking it open, he discovered his daughter had died by suicide. Police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination. A single-page suicide note written in English was found at the scene. In the note, the teenager wrote that she loved her parents more than herself and apologized for not being the daughter they deserved. She described her act as beginning a small journey. Senior police officials confirmed the recovery of the note and said the family is cooperating with the investigation. Officers are examining possible reasons behind the incident while collecting statements and reviewing any prior signs of distress.
