Tarik Anwar Calls for Fact-Finding Committee on AK-47 Allegations in Bihar
In the wake of claims that an AK‑47 was used against demonstrators in Siwan, Bihar, Congress leader Tarik Anwar announced that a fact‑finding committee would be dispatched to verify the allegation. He insisted the committee would "bring the truth to light" after the state government repeatedly denied the weapon's involvement.
Anwar emphasized that an independent inquiry is essential to restore faith among the public and to hold any responsible parties accountable. He also linked the incident to the broader pattern of government denial, noting that the same administration is simultaneously offering forgiveness to students arrested after the Jantar Mantar protest.
The MP's remarks came alongside his criticism of the recent LPG cylinder price reduction, which he described as a superficial move that fails to aid the middle‑class and migrant workers who are struggling to afford basic cooking fuel.
