Tanveer Sadik Accuses Former CM of Responsibility for 370 Revocation

Srinagar, August 17 – In a pointed press briefing, JKNC spokesperson Tanveer Sadik targeted former chief minister Mahbuba Mufti after she described herself as a “brain Naxal.” Sadik argued that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bears the chief blame for the chain of events that led to the 2019 abrogation of Article 370.

Sadik reminded reporters that the National Conference had warned against any partnership with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had publicly pledged to strip Jammu and Kashmir of its special status. He claimed that the PDP’s decision to join the BJP‑led government after the 2014 elections was the decisive factor that made the constitutional change possible.

The spokesperson found Mufti’s self‑label puzzling, stating that a former chief minister should not claim responsibility for a stance that ultimately harmed the state. He cited former CM Omar Abdullah’s 2014 admonition to avoid a BJP alliance because of its 370‑repeal agenda.

Sadik concluded that the 2019 removal of Article 370 was a direct consequence of the PDP’s political calculus and that Mahbuba Mufti is the most responsible figure for the loss of Jammu and Kashmir’s autonomy.
