Tamil Nadu Sets $1.5 Trillion Goal by 2036 in New TVK Fiscal Blueprint

In the maiden budget of the TVK government, Finance Minister N. Mary Wilson reiterated the state's ambition to become a $1.5 trillion economy by 2036. The fiscal roadmap combines aggressive revenue mobilisation, infrastructure investment and human capital development.

The budget projects an extra ₹16,000 crore in collections, with ₹15,000 crore from new tax initiatives and a ₹1,000 crore liquor excise component. A Revenue Growth Committee will oversee these targets. Education receives a major push, with ₹2,132 crore earmarked for modernising 3,734 government schools, upgrading facilities and introducing digital tools. The "Super Clean, Super Campus" programme, backed by ₹129 crore, will raise hygiene standards across 10,000 schools, while ₹25 crore will fund a curriculum overhaul.
