From Talent Exodus to National Values: RSS Chief’s Message to Students

In a session co‑hosted by IILM University and Banyan Tree School, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, engaged directly with pupils from tenth grade up to postgraduate studies. He highlighted a growing phenomenon of talent migration, noting that while abroad students may find better facilities, their true identity remains anchored to India. Bhagwat pointed out that the younger generation shows higher standards of honesty and a natural daring spirit, qualities that must be reinforced through a purpose‑driven education system. He urged the audience to view the nation’s resources—its food, water and cultural heritage—as the foundation of personal development, and to allocate surplus capacities toward societal welfare. Citing examples from Indian mythology and modern entrepreneurship, he illustrated that many revered leaders never received formal schooling yet became pillars of society because of their elevated humanity. The RSS chief concluded that education should cultivate the soul as well as the mind, a prerequisite for building a strong and ethical nation.
