Surprise DVAC Raid at Former Tamil Nadu Minister KN Nehru's House

A sudden raid by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department (DVAC) has put former Tamil Nadu minister KN Nehru, a prominent DMK leader, in the spotlight. The early Thursday action targeted his home in Thillai Nagar, Tiruchirappalli.

The probe concerns alleged irregularities in the hiring of employees for the municipal administration and water supply department. The case reportedly involves allegations of bribes worth about 634 crore rupees.

According to reports, more than 15 DVAC officers reached the location in three Bolero vehicles on Thursday morning. They launched a detailed inspection of Nehru's house and office premises. Extra police were posted at the house entrance as a precaution.

The operation has caused noticeable unease in political circles. It has also come just days before a wedding in Nehru's family, as his younger brother Ravichandran's son is due to marry soon. Relatives and family members are said to be shaken by the timing of the raid.

Officials are continuing to examine papers and check evidence. Details about seized materials and other aspects of the case are expected to be shared officially once the search is over.

Notably, DVAC officials had earlier, on September 5, carried out searches at 19 places associated with Nehru and his brother Ravichandran.
