Surat March: BJP Accuses Congress of Shielding Infiltrators

Surat, October 25: Gujarat's BJP leadership on Sunday launched a campaign called 'Save Democracy, Remove Chaos' and accused the Congress of protecting infiltrators and resisting the deletion of their names from voter lists. The party said the initiative is meant to confront misinformation about democratic institutions, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls and the electoral process.

State BJP chief Jagdish Vishwakarma led the remarks at a march held in the presence of Union Minister of State C.R. Paatil, who holds the Jal Shakti portfolio.

Vishwakarma argued that the Congress wanted infiltrators to remain on voter lists and was thereby providing them protection. He said the party was attempting to stir unrest and damage the national environment.

He also alleged that the opposition was unwilling to respect the mandate given by the public and was sowing confusion and distrust regarding the country's democratic institutions. According to him, the party was misguiding the youth by acting on the instructions of foreign forces.

Vishwakarma stated that India's young people are standing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that citizens have full confidence in democratic institutions. He said the alleged schemes of Rahul Gandhi and his colleagues would never prevail.

He accused the Congress of relying on 'politics of lies' to foster anarchy. The state president added that the people understood the party's political strategies and would not excuse what he termed an attempt to malign India.

While discussing Modi's leadership, Vishwakarma said the country was progressing toward developed status and self-reliance under the 'Make in India' programme. He also highlighted that the Prime Minister had recently marked 25 years of public service and devotion.

He said the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) hold power in 22 states.

The march commenced near Prime Market in Adajan and proceeded through Presidency Circle, Machhli Circle and Varun Hospital Circle before ending at Bhulka Bhavan Circle. Protesters shouted slogans such as 'Congress supports infiltrators', 'Friends of infiltrators are traitors' and 'The country will not tolerate insult to the people's mandate in the name of vote theft'.

Attendees included State Minister Naresh Patel, BJP State General Secretary Prashant Korat, Surat City BJP President Paresh Patel, party office-bearers, MPs, MLAs, elected representatives, religious and community leaders, trade association members, women, NGO representatives and other citizens.
