Supreme Court order forces UP to discontinue kamil and fazil degrees

The Supreme Court, in the Anjum Kadri vs. Union of India case (Nov 5, 2024), directed that any higher‑education program run without UGC approval must be shut down. Uttar Pradesh plans to comply by withdrawing recognition of kamil and fazil degrees offered by madrasas, limiting them to school‑level teaching.
