Suicide Threat at Hazaribagh Coal Project Sparks Local Outcry

A massive commotion erupted at the Chandrapura Open Cast Coal Project in Keredari, Hazaribagh, on Wednesday when a youth scaled a tall industrial tower and threatened to jump. Rahul Kumar, hailing from the nearby Pachha village, became the center of attention after his dramatic protest action.

The protester claimed his actions were a direct response to failed employment commitments from Sushii Infra Mining Pvt Ltd. He noted that he had successfully completed a trial evaluation nearly six months ago, only to be ignored subsequently. Multiple attempts to secure the advertised position proved futile.

According to Kumar, the situation escalated after he interacted with Managing Director RS Yadav, who reportedly guaranteed him a role. The lack of follow-through and constant administrative runaround left him devastated. He documented his grievances in a handwritten appeal sent to the top executive.

CCL management responded by stating that employment-related controversies of this nature are handled at the Mine Developer cum Operator (MDO) level. The response drew sharp criticism from nearby communities, who emphasized that the parent company must not distance itself from welfare-related incidents on its land.

Emergency services and local administrators coordinated a rescue operation. After hours of intense persuasion from both authorities and residents, Kumar agreed to step down safely. The area returned to normalcy, though community leaders continue to advocate for a fair audit of hiring practices and a definitive settlement.
