Sub‑Inspector Shiv Pandey Removed as Report on GBU Protest Case Faces Scrutiny

EcoTech‑1 police station’s Sub‑Inspector Shiv Pandey has been suspended after his charge‑sheet on the GBU protest case came under intense review. The report accused student Akshat Tripathi of inciting other students to join a rally organised by the Cockroach Janata Party and of spreading misinformation that could disturb law and order on campus.

Pandey’s report was forwarded by the station incharge to higher authorities, prompting the executive magistrate to issue a private bond notice of ₹5 lakh. Tripathi contested the allegations, stating he was not on campus when the report was filed and that he had been interning at the Allahabad High Court.

Following the controversy, the notice was rescinded, and the department has expanded its internal inquiry to examine the actions of all officials involved, including the magistrate’s decision‑making process.
