Sub‑Inspector Chetan Korolia Sent to Police Line After Gwalior Station Fight

After a video of a public brawl at Gwalior railway station went viral, the Government Railway Police (GRP) launched an internal investigation. The incident, recorded on June 29 near 4 p.m. on Platform 2, began when a woman alleged that a young man tried to snatch her gold earring. Passengers intervened, restraining and beating the man before the Railway Protection Force arrived.

The young man, trying to escape the aggression, cradled a child who was present at the location. A passerby captured the event, and the footage quickly spread, raising questions about crowd behavior and police handling of the case.

The departmental probe found that the GRP did not promptly file a criminal complaint against the accused, who had initially been taken into custody for an alleged theft attempt but later released. In response, Sub‑Inspector Chetan Korolia was transferred to the police line until the investigation concludes.

Railway Police Superintendent Rajesh Singh stated that the probe is ongoing, and anyone identified in the clip as participating in the assault will face legal consequences.
