Students Face Delays as NTA Cancels UG‑C NET Exams Over Faulty Papers

The National Testing Agency announced on Sunday that it would reconduct the UG‑C NET for English, sociology and commerce after spotting significant mistakes in the original papers. The move has drawn fresh criticism of the agency’s oversight.

Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, warned that the cancellation robs candidates of a year’s worth of preparation. He pointed out that aspirants had already paid the examination fee, completed applications and traveled long distances to centres, only to be told to appear again in September.

Gandhi described the situation as a systemic failure that extracts money, time and mental well‑being from students without offering commensurate opportunities. He called for the resignation of the responsible officials and demanded that the NTA’s leadership be held to account.
