During the protest, a student representative pointed out that the university’s earlier statement promised merit‑based entry for all fourth‑year graduates into the one‑year MA, but the actual rollout offered only limited slots. The disparity is stark: four‑year programmes have 4,000‑5,000 seats, whereas the one‑year master’s retains just about 1,000. The ABVP accused the administration of implementing a new system without adequate preparation, leaving many candidates unable to meet research prerequisites and facing hurdles in the admission process. The protesters insisted that the university engage with them promptly or risk escalating the agitation to the vice‑chancellor’s residence.
