Students Mark 17th Day of Jharkhand Exam Protest as Politicians Weigh In

New Delhi, August 10 – Seventeen days after the launch of a mass demonstration against alleged irregularities in Jharkhand's recruitment examinations, student groups continue to rally outside the state assembly in Ranchi.

The protest has now drawn statements from multiple political figures. BJP MP Ujjwal Nikam asked whether the Hemant Soren government has engaged directly with the protesters and urged a compassionate review of their demands, noting the central government's earlier request for the education minister's resignation.

From Hyderabad, BJP leader T.R. Srinivas criticized the Congress for remaining aloof, urging the chief minister and party heads to descend from their “high towers of ego” and acknowledge the students' pain.

JD(U) national general secretary Shyam Rajak, speaking in Patna, recalled earlier discussions with the chief minister that resulted in provisional decisions, but stressed that the investigative component—currently handled by the CID—remains unresolved.

LoJPA (Ramvilas) MP Shambhavi Chaudhary reaffirmed her party’s commitment to accountability, emphasizing that students are the future of the nation and must receive transparent answers regardless of the state in question.
