Student Uses AI to Morph Instagram Photo into Pornographic Content

A 22‑year‑old engineering student from East Punjabi Bagh has been arrested by Delhi’s North District Cyber Police for producing and circulating obscene AI‑generated images of a fellow student.

The victim, who noticed a surge of harassing messages from fake Instagram handles, reported that her private photos were harvested, altered with AI tools, and uploaded to closed Discord groups.

Police‑led digital forensics linked the illicit uploads to a cluster of fabricated accounts across Instagram, Discord and Facebook, all managed through a set of Gmail addresses. The suspect’s device contained the original images, the AI software used for manipulation, and copies of the pornographic outputs.

Keshav Bansal, the accused, admitted that a personal rivalry with the victim fueled his actions. He stated that he accessed her public Instagram profile, downloaded the images, and employed a generative AI model to create explicit versions, which he then shared anonymously.

Authorities have seized the suspect’s phone, two SIM cards and a collection of digital evidence. The forensic team continues to map the broader network to determine if other individuals were involved in the distribution chain.
