Student Leaders Demand Immediate Action as Talks Resume in Ranchi

Ranchi, August 17 – The fourth round of negotiations between the state administration and student demonstrators at Jaypal Singh Munda Stadium began on Monday, marking a pivotal moment in a protest that has now entered its 24th day. The students, who have been on hunger strike for 14 days, insist that their demands—ranging from better hostel facilities to academic policy reforms—be addressed without compromise.

Raviendra Paswan, the chief spokesperson for the protesters, warned that the movement will not cease until every demand is satisfied. He highlighted that two of the hunger strikers are already receiving medical care, while the remaining activists continue to fast despite deteriorating health.

The protest has previously seen confrontations with law‑enforcement, including a lathi charge during a legislative assembly encirclement. Organisers assert that their methods remain peaceful, yet they stand ready to intensify pressure if the dialogue fails to deliver results.
