Student agitation over recruitment exams prompts second round talks with Jharkhand government

The protest that began on 29 July in Ranchi over the 14th JPPSC preliminary exam has entered its second day of negotiations. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accompanied by ministers Deepika Pandey Singh, Chamra Linda, Sanjay Prasad Yadav and Sudhivy Kumar, sat down with student delegates on Saturday for a follow‑up discussion.

Students reiterated demands for the cancellation of the contested exam, a fair investigation into alleged irregularities, and sweeping reforms in the recruitment framework. While Soren’s office described the dialogue as “constructive”, students emphasized that verbal assurances would not end the movement unless a clear, written plan is delivered.

The administration is said to be reviewing the outcomes of the first meeting and preparing a policy blueprint that could be disclosed on the forthcoming Monday, despite the Sunday holiday.
