Thousands of Stolen Handsets Returned to Owners in Delhi

In an extensive crackdown on mobile phone theft, Delhi Police has returned thousands of stolen handsets to their owners. Over the first six months of the year, a total of 2,400 phones were recovered, with an estimated market value of more than 2.5 crore rupees.

The Anti‑Snatching Cell alone recovered 1,236 phones, while police‑station teams accounted for another 1,164. Each device was traced through digital footprints and verified on the ground before being handed back.

Authorities emphasized that the success of the recovery drive stems from coordinated efforts between technical units and field officers, reinforcing the city’s zero‑tolerance stance on crime.
