State’s Mobile and Chip Production Reach 60% National Share, New Data Centres Planned

Data released by the Uttar Pradesh administration reveals that roughly 60 percent of the country’s mobile phones and 55 percent of electronic component output now originate from the state. A massive HCL‑Foxconn chip facility, valued at about 3,706 crore rupees, is under construction, signalling a deepening of the semiconductor supply chain.

The government has also approved proposals for data centres with a combined capacity of 644 megawatts, reflecting the growing demand for cloud services and digital storage. More than 24,000 startups operate across the state, with eight unicorns already part of its thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Officials say these developments are laying the foundation for a transition from merely assembling devices to designing modules and ultimately manufacturing micro‑chips, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a strategic node in India’s digital economy.
