State seeks policy boost for new wind and solar capacity

Renewable‑energy developers in Tamil Nadu have appealed to the Green Energy Corporation for a streamlined policy that would simplify the integration of fresh wind and solar installations. They argue that delays should not persist while the separate framework for battery energy storage systems is being finalised.

Industry representatives say a cohesive regulatory package would enable the state to capture the higher generation numbers seen in July and August and strengthen the overall share of renewables in the power network. By removing procedural bottlenecks, Tamil Nadu could better capitalise on its wind‑rich geography and accelerate its clean‑energy transition.
