State Issues Special Toll Passes for Vehicles En Route to Konkan

Maharashtra’s transport authorities have rolled out a limited‑time toll exemption for all private and commercial vehicles traveling toward Konkan during the Ganesh festival. The waiver period runs from 11 September to 27 September 2026 and includes toll points on NH‑48, NH‑66, and other roads overseen by the Public Works Department and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation.

A unique pass, printed with a “Ganeshotsav 2026 Konkan Darshan” sticker, will be provided to each eligible driver. The pass records the vehicle number and driver’s name, and it remains valid for the round‑trip journey. Police stations, traffic police checkpoints, and RTOs will serve as distribution hubs.

The government expects a significant influx of pilgrims from Mumbai, Thane, Pune and surrounding districts, which typically leads to heavy traffic on the Mumbai‑Goa corridor. By removing toll fees, the state aims to cut down travel expenses and reduce bottlenecks on key highways.

Bus operators serving the Konkan region will also receive toll‑free passes through coordination with the transport department, ensuring that public transport passengers enjoy the same financial relief.
