State Invests Over ₹200 Crore to Upgrade Vindhya Sacred Sites

Uttar Pradesh has earmarked more than ₹208 crore for the development of the Vindhya pilgrimage belt. The funding is directed toward expanding the sanctum of Vindhyavasini, laying new access roads, widening the circumambulatory path and upgrading basic facilities around the Ashtabhuja and Kali Khoh complexes.

A key component of the plan is the installation of a rope‑way that will connect the base town to the hilltop temples, providing a safer and quicker route for senior citizens, families with children and disabled devotees.

In October, the government released the tender for a ₹35.50 crore project focused on further improvements at the Kali Khoh sector. These works aim to create a seamless Shaktipith circuit that can accommodate the growing pilgrim traffic while preserving the spiritual ambiance of the sites.

Officials anticipate that the upgraded infrastructure will not only enhance the pilgrim experience but also stimulate the local economy through increased demand for hospitality, transport, guiding services and devotional merchandise.
