State Health Officials Mobilise Teams as Swine Flu Cases Surge in Rajasthan

Rajasthan’s health department reported a sharp rise in swine flu cases during the first half of August 2026, tallying 129 infections compared with just 16 cases during the same period last year. Although no deaths have been recorded this year, the eight‑fold increase has prompted authorities to tighten surveillance.

Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar led a briefing with senior officials to assess the spread of H1N1 and other seasonal diseases. The meeting resulted in directives for hospitals across the state to ready isolation beds, reinforce PPE supplies, and maintain rigorous monitoring of patients presenting flu‑like symptoms.

Neighbouring states such as Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have also reported upticks, leading Rajasthan to coordinate with regional health agencies for a unified response. Experts stress that the current wave aligns with the typical seasonal pattern of H1N1 and does not indicate a new strain, but they warn that continued vigilance is essential.
