State government to accelerate reconstruction of homes and infrastructure after Assam floods
Following a series of severe floods that inundated several districts of Assam, the state administration announced a fast‑track reconstruction program. The plan covers rebuilding houses, repairing broken embankments, and restoring critical infrastructure such as roads, bridges, electricity lines and potable water systems.
Chief Minister Sarma reiterated that the government will provide full compensation for losses, support livelihood restoration, and monitor rehabilitation progress closely with district officials. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority, together with local administrations, is supervising the recovery to prevent delays.
Though water levels have lowered in many areas, many villages continue to suffer from residual flooding and agricultural damage. The focus is now shifting to delivering immediate relief supplies and initiating rehabilitation measures that will help residents resume normal life.
