State committee surveys every private university in Telangana to verify quality and intent

Hyderabad – The newly constituted committee, chaired by the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, embarked on a state‑wide tour of private universities on Monday. Accompanied by officials from the Telangana Council of Higher Education, the registrar of JNTU, and representatives from Palamuru and Usmania Universities, the team is mapping each institution’s operational model.

The investigation zeroes in on the nine points prescribed by the Supreme Court, such as the original purpose of the university, the background of its promoters, and the academic qualifications of its teaching staff. The committee also holds the authority to summon additional specialists if gaps are identified during inspections.

According to a press release from the Chief Minister’s office, the Supreme Court’s concern stems from a pattern of unchecked growth in private higher‑education establishments. The findings will be compiled into a comprehensive affidavit, which the state will present to the court, ensuring transparency and accountability.
