In a boost for southern Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will tour Kanyakumari on Tuesday, February 24, to launch several infrastructure and memorial projects. His itinerary, packed with official engagements, reflects the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government’s focus on regional upliftment.
Stalin’s journey begins with a 10 AM flight from Chennai to Tuticorin Airport, followed by a road trip to Kanyakumari district. A warm reception awaits at 11 AM at Mahadhanpuram Junction, orchestrated by Mayor R. Mahesh and the local DMK unit.
Midday activities center on cultural preservation: the Chief Minister will dedicate a 1.45 crore Silver Jubilee Arch beside the Thiruvalluvar statue in Kanyakumari. This arch not only celebrates 25 years of the iconic statue but also aims to draw more tourists to this historic landmark.
Evening honors include the 5:30 PM unveiling of M. Karunanidhi’s statue in Kalladivilai, Nagercoil, and at 6:30 PM, Ponnappa Nadar’s statue at Neppamoodu Junction’s memorial park. These tributes highlight the enduring legacy of leaders who championed social justice.
The next morning, February 25, brings a public rally at Nagercoil’s Concordia School Ground at 9 AM. Stalin will commission finished projects and kick off new ones tied to welfare programs, directly benefiting locals.
Wrapping up by noon with a flight back from Tuticorin, the visit has galvanized DMK cadres across levels. Party leaders urge full attendance, emphasizing the tour’s role in strengthening voter connect ahead of future elections.
