From Ladakh to Tamil Nadu, sky gazers across India looked upwards on Sunday to witness a rare total lunar eclipse. The Earth’s shadow began to cover the moon at 9:57 PM on Sunday night. While in some parts of the country, the moon played hide-and-seek in the cloud-filled sky due to monsoon rains, the rare spectacle of the total lunar eclipse was still visible. The Earth’s shadow completely covered the moon at 11:01 PM on Sunday night, causing the moon to turn a copper-red color. The total lunar eclipse lasted for 82 minutes, between 11:01 PM and 12:23 AM. The last total lunar eclipse of the year has now concluded. This lunar eclipse lasted for 3 hours and 28 minutes. The last solar eclipse of 2025 will occur on the new moon date on September 21.
