Special Session Called to Tackle Drought and Kasturirangan Findings, CM Explains

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar clarified that the recent special session was convened to focus on two critical issues: the worsening drought across Karnataka and the recommendations of the Kasturirangan report on tribal welfare. He noted that 120 taluks have already been declared drought‑affected, with another 100 under assessment.

Shivakumar said that he had met legislators from four divisions – Kalaburagi, Bellagavi and Chitradurga among them – to gather ground‑level inputs before announcing the session. He emphasized that the discussion would be driven by elected representatives rather than a unilateral decision by the state.
